How has archaeology helped the Bible?

The historical science, archaeology, has been a great benefit to the Christian faith.  Excavations at historical sites in the Holy Land and surrounding areas have confirmed what the Bible had already recorded long ago.  Some things that have been confirmed include: various individuals, such as Sargon, King of Assyria, (Isaiah 20:1); people groups, such as the Hittite Empire (Gen 10:15, Jos 1:4); and places like Ophir (1 Kings 9:28).  Archaeology has always helped to confirm the Bible, and it has never disproved the Bible.  For more information about the interesting and ever-growing science of Biblical archaeology, check out the Archaeological Study Bible and the following link:  http://www.allaboutarchaeology.org/
